Frequently asked questions

This page answers the most frequent questions about the RDP (Relational Dynamics Profile): what it measures, what it does not do, how it handles your answers, and when it directs you toward a healthcare professional.

Is the RDP a personality test?

No. The RDP (Relational Dynamics Profile) is an assessment of relational dynamics across 9 scored dimensions — emotional regulation, engagement capacity, affective openness, attachment security, emotional intelligence, risk patterns, value clarity, conflict management, intimacy expression — not a general personality typology.

The questionnaire also measures a cognitive style (COM), but this is categorical: it describes a preference in perception, decision, and action, never a score, and it never enters the global score calculation.

Is the RDP a diagnostic tool?

No. The RDP is a psychometric instrument for self-knowledge and relational clarity. It is not a medical device, nor a tool for psychological or clinical diagnosis.

It does not replace the support of a healthcare professional. Its results describe dynamics and areas to clarify — never a verdict on a person.

Is there a serious, science-based couple compatibility test?

Research-validated instruments do exist to measure the quality of a relationship: couple satisfaction and adjustment scales, adult attachment questionnaires, conflict observation grids. None of them predicts with certainty that a couple will last, and a test that promises so is not serious. A serious instrument describes dynamics, says what it measures, and says what it cannot conclude.

The RDP belongs to that family: 72 items, 9 dimensions grounded in studied models (including the ECR model for attachment and Gottman's work on conflict), a reliability index for the measurement, and a couple report produced only under double consent. Its weighting is theoretical and its empirical calibration is under way — the exact state of the evidence is published on the methodology page.

What scientific tool helps you understand your relationship dynamics?

Understanding a relationship dynamic means looking at several layers at once: how you regulate emotions under strain, your attachment profile (relational anxiety and avoidance of closeness), how you enter and leave a conflict, and alignment on fundamentals. Validated questionnaires usually measure one of these layers; it is their combination that makes a dynamic readable.

The RDP measures these layers together, across 9 dimensions, then compares your own description of yourself with the measurement to flag the areas to clarify. It diagnoses nothing and does not replace a professional; it gives reference points for a conversation — with yourself, with the other person, or with someone who supports you. The full structure is described on the methodology page.

How does the RDP handle my written answers?

The questionnaire includes 8 narrative items, where the person answers in their own words rather than on a scale. These answers are analyzed with the assistance of artificial intelligence, under a controlled methodology.

They are used mainly to measure the gap between how a person describes themselves and what the psychometric measure from the 64 quantitative items shows — never to form an independent judgment on their own.

This data, like all questionnaire responses, can be deleted on request, in line with GDPR (see the legal notice page).

What does the gap between perception and measurement show in the RDP?

In the RDP report, this gap feeds the reliability index: the confidence one can place in the measurement itself.

When a person's narrative self-description is far from what the psychometric measure shows, this signals an area to clarify in the profile — never a judgment on the person. It is information about the measurement, not a conclusion about their character.

Can the RDP tell me whether to stay in my relationship?

No. The RDP never suggests breaking up, nor the opposite.

Its doctrine is explicit: "do what YOU judge healthiest for you, those around you, and your future." The report offers points of reference — never a decision made for you.

How do I know if my doubts before marriage are normal?

Doubting before a wedding or moving in together is common and says nothing, by itself, about the relationship. What matters is the nature of the doubt: is it about the size of the commitment (losing freedom, getting it wrong, changing your life) or about the person and the relationship themselves (respect, trust, fundamentals)? The first accompanies almost every major decision; the second deserves a calm, unhurried look.

Doubt before a major commitment is neither a verdict on the relationship nor an anomaly: it is information, worth looking at rather than pushing aside.

That doubt usually covers accumulated signals that were never quite put into words: misalignment on fundamentals (family, mobility, the relationship structure envisioned), an attachment profile that makes commitment itself uncomfortable, or a gap between actual long-term investment and what is being projected onto the relationship. The RDP helps name what feeds the doubt — it never confirms nor rules out that this is "the right person." That reading belongs to you.

What happens if I am going through a period of acute distress?

The RDP applies a safety-first doctrine: when signals of acute distress are detected in the answers, the instrument suspends any commercial offer and directs the person toward human resources.

In France, these resources include 3114 (suicide prevention) and 3919 (domestic violence support). Outside France, local emergency services should be contacted.

A healthcare professional always comes before a questionnaire, however precise it may be.

How much does the RDP cost?

The individual report is priced at €29.90. The couple journey is priced at €55.90.

The couple price is a bundle for both people, not a per-person price.

In which languages is the RDP available?

The RDP is available in 6 languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Korean.

The same set of 72 items is verified across all 6 languages, to keep results comparable regardless of the language used to take the assessment.

Does the RDP replace couples therapy?

No. The RDP is coaching, not therapy: it makes no promise of diagnosis or treatment.

It is designed to be complementary, never a substitute, to therapeutic support. Its authorized uses are self-knowledge, coaching, and support alongside an existing therapeutic process.

Who publishes the RDP?

The RDP is published by MKN Coaching (Malachie Kengne Njilo).
